Assembly Row

Assembly Row is a multi-phase mixed-use town center development on the Mystic River in Somerville Massachusetts. The completed Phase One includes four blocks with ground floor retail and four floors of residential and office above. A twelve-screen cinema and the east coast’s first Lego Discovery Center complement a mix of shops featuring both local vendors and major national retailers. Eight unique restaurant venues create a vibrant urban food scene. Collaborating with Federal Realty Investment Trust, Development Management Associates, and Street-Works Studio, DAIQ has designed storefronts for 36 retail Tenants including Nike, Puma, Banana Republic, Saks and other national brands. The focus of the Phase One development is Pointe Park; a .5-acre town square with a 3,000SF retail pavilion facing onto an amphitheater and landscaped walkway along the river’s edge. DAIQ designed a glass, steel, and concrete pavilion utilizing standard bolting, robust steel details, and board-formed concrete to echo the remnants of the original auto plant used throughout the site as way-finding elements and as homage to Somerville’s industrial past.
